We didn't try to reinvent the wheel when designing these pergolas. We relied on the proven success of wood pergola designs that have been built for fine homes for centuries. We converted these designs to incorporate low maintenance, long lasting materials while maintaining the classic, refined look pergolas are known for.  Most models feature 2" x 8" beams and 2" x 6" rafters for architecturally pleasing proportions and balance. Many competing vinyl pergolas use only 2" x 6" extrusions for the beam and rafters. We offer 1 1/2" square stringers for additional shade just as used in many of the classic wood designs.
