TREX COMPANY ANNOUNCES LICENSING
PARTNERSHIP WITH BACKYARD
AMERICA
Trex® Pergola Kits to Combine
Low-maintenance Durability with
Exceptional Style
WINCHESTER, Va., October 10
2011 – Trex Company, the
world’s largest manufacturer of
wood-alternative decking and
railing products, announced that
it has entered into a licensing
agreement with Manassas,
Va.-based Backyard America to
develop and market Trex Pergola
kits manufactured of durable and
low-maintenance cellular PVC
TrexTrim®. Trex Pergola kits
will be available in a variety
of sizes and designs to
complement any residential or
commercial outdoor space.
“Through our partnership with
Backyard America, Trex will gain
an additional avenue to market
our trim products, grow our
share of the outdoor living
category and expand our brand
footprint beyond the deck – as
pergolas become increasingly
popular design options for
patios, yards and gardens,” said
Ronald W. Kaplan, chairman,
president and CEO of Trex. “With
this launch, Trex will offer our
professional partners and
consumers yet another high-style
and low-maintenance product to
efficiently and cost-effectively
enhance outdoor spaces.”
Exceptional Style and Design
Flexibility
Trex Pergola kits will be
available in a wide range of
styles and options that provide
ultimate design flexibility for
homes and commercial buildings.
Each kit will include all the
pre-cut components and hardware
necessary to install a complete
pergola. Kits are available in
approximately 25 different
standard sizes or may be ordered
in custom sizes and shapes.
Pergolas may be attached to a
structure or free-standing,
supported with round or square
columns and may be protected
with an optional shade system.
In addition, all pergolas will
be offered in a standard white
finish and may be painted to
complement the exterior of a
home or commercial building.
Superior Durability
Unlike pergolas constructed of
wood or other materials, Trex
Pergolas will boast extreme
performance. With a cellular PVC
composition and sturdy design
engineered for installation over
long spans and exposure to the
elements, Trex Pergolas will
offer the same exceptional
durability as the core Trex
product line. In fact, they will
meet demanding exposure “C”
requirements – meaning they will
hold up under the force of 140
mile per hour winds in an open
environment.
“The beauty and durability of
TrexTrim will provide a superior
finish for our high quality line
of residential and commercial
pergola kits,” said Ernie Sears,
president and CEO of Backyard
America. “We are extremely
pleased to be partnered with
Trex Company and to have this
opportunity to leverage the
incomparable Trex brand to
significantly expand our share
of the outdoor structures
market.”
Trex Pergola kits will be
featured in the Trex booth at
DECKEXPO (Oct.13-15) in Chicago
and will be available at retail
and to the trade in January. For
