Another Backyard America Exclusive. Our fixed
canopy system is the perfect addition to our Potomac
and Williamsburg pergolas. This easy to install, low
cost system has some great features:

The EdgeLockTM
polycarbonate panels block 99.9% of UV rays
(A & B). With growing concerns over sun
damage to skin this is an important benefit.

The system is watertight.
With a recommended 5% pitch, the system will
shed water without a drop getting through.
There's even a flashing panel for structures
which are attached to a home or other building.

Our Solar Gray panels
block 80% of visible light for great shade. You will be amazed at
how much cooler it is under this canopy - it is
a remarkable difference.

There is a ten year warranty
against degradation of the panel's UV protection
of greater than 6%. With our
vinyl or fiberglass pergolas you will have a lifetime
of enjoyment from this shade system.

The System
Unlike other polycarbonate and fiberglass systems,
EdgeLockTM
was designed as a shade and watertight system from
the start. This system does not rely on rubber
washers and screws that will eventually fail as
other systems will. The aluminum extrusions lock the
panels in place so that water cannot penetrate. This
also means there is no need to go up onto the panels
for installation - the system is attached to the
pergola from below.

Then installation is simple:

Layout the area to be covered
using a ladder, pencil, and measuring tape.

Starting from the middle, attach the first
aluminum profile
using the supplied purlin clips.

Slide in the first polycarbonate
panel.

Slide on
the next profile and
attach and continue across the pergola with
panels and profiles
-
Attach the end caps.

Enjoy the shade!
Panels are limited to 20' in length and are 24"
wide and cannot be rip cut along the length. One
dimension of the canopy must be a multiple of
2'. The panels can be mounted on pergolas with
or without stringers (purlins).

 Is
your pergola or structure adequate for a fixed
canopy?
An issue that is not normally a concern with
pergolas is snow load. Snow load engineering
requirements vary from jurisdiction to jurisdiction.
If you normally have snow, you should check with
your building department to determine the snow load
requirements. Backyard America had an
independent engineering firm test and analyze our
Potomac and Williamsburg pergolas to ensure that
they are structurally adequate for this application.
