DecoRiserTM Framing Details
There are two basic ways to frame the stairs for decks and porches when using stringers: First Tread Flush and First Tread Down.

First Tread Flush.
With this framing technique, the plumb cut of the stringers is attached to the face band board of the deck or porch. Typically the attachment is with framing anchors and nails. With this type of stairs the DecoRiserTM  board can be used with the light boxes on every riser.

First Tread Down
When using this technique the first riser cut is attached to the back of the bandboard using framing anchors. DecoRiserTM cannot be used for the top riser with the light boxes because the band board is in the way. Depending on the trim scheme, the DecoRiserTM board can be installed to maintain the overall look of the stairs. The top tread in this case can be lit by a post mounted fixture.

It's simple really... comfort and value.
