The 41st Annual Smithsonian Folklife
Festival
June
27-July 1 and July 4-8, 2007
Backyard America was pleased to be contacted by
the staff of the Smithsonian Institution to provide one of our new Aspen
Pergolas for use in the Roots of Virginia Exhibit. The pergola was used
for staff meetings and small demonstrations and talks.
The Folklife Festival is produced by the
Smithsonian Institute every year on the National Mall which runs between
the U.S. Capital and the Washington Monument. This year the festival
focuses on three themes: Northern Ireland, the Mekong River, and
Virginia. Virginia and the country are celebrating the 400th anniversary
of the settling of Jamestown which is part of the festival.
The festival includes demonstrations, talks,
performances and displays of crafts and cultural activities found in the
three geographic areas. Backyard America was proud to be a little part
of this great program. |
